From the Principal’s Desk:
We know about the value of each and every child. Genesis 1:27 declares that, “God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” I was reflecting on several examples of  how what we do here at ICS displays this. Our Protectors chapel series has this message at its heart, and we illustrated that this morning with a crumpled $20 bill which, though mistreated, still maintains its original value. Our Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) trial also acknowledges the individual value of each child, encouraging and celebrating growth, not simply achievement against the norm. As staff, we will look at the data from the last round of testing together on our MAP PA Day on Monday, and we will be sharing your child’s growth results with both him or her, and you, soon!
I look forward to seeing you out at the upcoming GST Auction this Saturday. May we as a community support the blessing of Christian education!
in Christian education, Keith Cameron, Principal and Chief Operating Officer
Protectors @ Home: Our key concept this week in learning how to be a better Protector is how to appear “strong and courageous” (from 1 Cor 16:13). Practice looking confident in any scary or uncertain situations that arise this week. Practice smiling at home, school, church and other places you go (ask your child about “Cheez Whizz”!).
Praying for our parents: Please join us as we pray for Ryan & Jenn Meesters as well as Jerry & Julie Peters.
Please also keep Jeff & Katie Zylstra, as well as the entire Zylstra family in our prayers,  Jeff’s father has stage four lung cancer. Pray for comfort and strength as well as for God’s hand over all of his care.
Praying for our staff: Please pray for Mrs. VanderHoek

Legal Actions Stemming from the Christian Education Assistance Foundation (CEAF). In past years, some of our parents participated in the CEAF. When its charitable status was revoked by Revenue Canada, many suffered adverse tax repercussions. Two legal actions were initiated: firstly, a class action case against Revenue Canada disputing their interpretation of tax law; and, secondly, a private class action against CEAF for damages. The second suit has been settled out of court, and previous CEAF donors will have received correspondence inviting them to apply for a portion of the settlement. There are differences of opinion amongst Christians on the rightness of civil litigation between Christians or Christian organizations. Should you have questions on participation, or on how participation might affect the unsettled court action against Revenue Canada, we encourage you to discerningly contact the different legal firms representing each action.
