From the Principal’s Desk:
Wow, what an exciting time playing baseball and raising funds for ICS last Saturday! Events wouldn’t be possible without organizers, so we recognize Janina Dykxhoorn for her passion and drive in leading this! See Janina’s note below on the great results.
Care2Cycle is 8 am this Saturday as a family-friendly fundraiser, aimed at attracting another segment of our school community. See the back page for more details. Come out and cycle the 10km Family Ride, the 30km Leg Stretcher or the 50km Calf Burner. There's a “Rabbit Rodeo” for ages 4-8. Every little bit helps!
in Christian education, Keith Cameron, Principal and Chief Operating Officer
Protectors @ Home: This week, we looked at the difference between self-defence and revenge. We are to protect ourselves and others from mistreatment, and we look to Jesus’ example at his trial before the high priest: “If what I said is wrong, bear witness about the wrong; but if what I said is right, why do you strike me?”  Read John 18:19-23. Explain to two people the difference between getting revenge and acting in self-defence.
Yours in Christian education, Keith Cameron, Principal and Chief Operating Officer
Each week, during staff devotions we join in prayer for our parents and staff members. We invite you to do so as well.
Praying for our parents: Please join us as we pray for Nathan & Valerie Bokma and Jake & Lisa Bolt.
Praying for our staff: Please pray for our Grade 4/5 teacher, Ms. Buma.

REMINDERS:
Chocolate Bars: Our aim is to have the chocolate sold by this week Friday, Sept 29th. First class to sell all of their boxes or get all of their student fees in gets a tasty treat. Looks like Gr 7&8 are in the lead, will they be the winning class?
Playground: The scooter season will end on Friday, Sept 29th. We ask that anything with wheels not be brought to school for the fall season. It’s a balance of having fun, and also keeping things manageable in the playground!
T.R.I.P: The next order will be sent out on October 5th.

Don’t forget! This Friday is our first “early dismissal” PD day. Students will depart ICS at 2pm (buses run roughly 1.5 hrs earlier). Your teachers will spend the remainder of the afternoon working in small groups and developing our upcoming teaching units.

Grandpa - Free pictures on PixabayThis is a great day of connections, with a coffee social at 10am, an invitation for recess and classes, with a lunch then student presentations at 1:00pm. Please mark your calendars and keep making ICS a generational community, where we speak of “things our ancestors have told us. We will not hide them from their descendants, we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord” (Psalm 78:3,4).
