Mission:  The mission of Immanuel Christian School is to prepare students to meet the challenge of the world and culture they live in as young and growing Christians.  Thus, students are taught the skill of discernment in the light of God’s Word, the practice of stewardship for creation, the required commitment to a life of Christian service, and the beauty of witness through modeling God’s love in a broken world.

From the Principal's Desk:

I would like to take this space to express sincere thanks to all in our community who volunteer their time, talents, finances and energy in service at ICS!

While our GIFTS program is an incentive for parents to get involved, many go well beyond the 'requirement', while we have many non-parent volunteers too! This past year, some of you have served faithfully on committees and/or the Board.  Some of you have helped in the forefront, and others have been very busy behind the scenes.  We have a number of people who come to work with students on a very regular basis, and there are others who have taken up the challenge of a particular, perhaps smaller, task.

You need to realize that every time you walk through the school doors or help on an Immanuel project, you have a positive impact on this community.  To each and every one of you, from the staff and students of Immanuel, THANK YOU, VOLUNTEERS!!  We pray that we may have impacted your lives as much as you have impacted ours!  Consider letting us know what your plans are for the Fall - will you continue in your commitment, do you want a change?  We have committees to serve on, Ladies Auxiliary, adult reading buddies, morning yard duty cover, sports coaches, library, electives, classroom assistants, and many special events...

At year end, we also recognize student efforts.  You are all welcome to attend our Awards Assembly in the ICS gym on Mon 18 Jun at 2:15 PM.  Sports coaches, you are especially welcome to say a few words of congratulations to your sports teams during the assembly.  Hope to see you there!

blessings,
//Keith Cameron//

New Band Members Sign-up for 2012-2013:  A band sign-up form was sent home last week Friday with the current grade 5, 6, and 7 students.  We need to know if our current band members are returning and all the new students wishing to join our school concert band for Sept.  We would like to have this form returned by Thursday, June 14th so that we make tentative plans.  We are still looking for a band leader.  If you are interested or know of someone who might be interested in this position please talk to Mr. Cameron.  Until we have someone in place we can’t confirm when our practices will be.

Band Shirts:  We are doing an inventory check on our band shirts and there are still shirts that need to come back.  Please check your closet if you still have one at home.  The band members will be wearing their shirts on Thursday, please return them on Friday, we will wash them up for you.

Free for the taking:  We have several computer desks, 2 student desks, and a wooden shelf for storage (great for a shop)  that are available.  First come, first served.  Talk to Marie in the office.

Track and Field:  We are excited to announce that ICS placed second in the district track and field meet!  Clinton came first with a points per student score of 3.25, we came second with 2.97, followed by LCES.  Results like this are a team effort: teachers taught the skills in gym class, we ran school practices following selection, and our student athletes honed and displayed their God-given skills!  Well done!

Christian Reformed World Missions:  Check out our winners online at: http://www.crcna.org/pages/crwm_poster2012winners.cfm.  All students participating will receive a small token, while winners will receive a small gift at the Awards Assembly.

Renewed Computer Technology:  Over the many years our school has been dealing with Renewed Computer Technology to supply us with free computers for our lab and classrooms.  Last summer we did an upgrade to our lab with the bonus of all flat screen and smaller, faster computers.  The work is still in progress of updating the classroom computers and setting up laptops for staff to use in their classroom as well.  We want to thank Mr. Will Paul our IT person, Mr. Jake Bergen, Mr. Keith Cameron and Brad Weverink for the many hours of work put into this project.
Renewed Computer Technology also offers computers for those who may not otherwise be able to afford them.  Check out their RCTech OUTREACH program if interested www.rcto.ca

FROM THE CLASSROOMS:
Memory Work: for Wed. June 20 review our theme songs, Here I Am, Lord and Teach Me Your Way.  Ccli # 1443206

Here I Am, Lord

I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin my hand will save.
I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them?  Whom shall I send?

Refrain:  Here I am, Lord.  Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my people's pain.
I have wept for love of them. They turn away.
I will break their hearts of stone, give them hearts for love alone.
I will speak my word to them.  Whom shall I send?
Refrain:

I, the Lord of wind and flame, I will tend the poor and lame;
I will set a feast for them. My hand will save.
Finest bread I will provide till their hearts are satisfied.
I will give my life to them.  Whom shall I send?
Refrain:

Teach Me Your Way

Vs: Teach me your way, O Lord and I will walk in your truth
Give me an undivided heart that I may fear your name

Teach me your way, O Lord and I will walk in your truth
Give me an undivided heart that I may fear your name
Your name

Chorus: I will praise you, O Lord my God with all of my heart
I will glorify your name forever for great is your love toward me
You have delivered me from the depths of the grave

Teach me your way, O Lord. Teach me your way
Teach me your way, O Lord. Teach me your way
Teach me your way, O Lord. And I will walk in your truth
Give me an undivided heart that I may fear your name
