From the Principal’s Desk:
He is risen… He is risen indeed! My extended Robinson family trades the traditional Easter greeting on Sunday morning, by phone and by text across the Atlantic. As our road sign declares this week, as a Christian school, that is the story we teach each day… that our Lord is risen, and that he is important in all areas of our life, not just Sunday or holidays!
In springtime, we start planning for the next year. Thank-you to those who have let us know your intentions for next year! We have been blessed with strong interest, especially JK and SK, and it looks like we may approach 130 students. And it’s not too late for new families! It also looks like we will still have limited places throughout grades 1 to 8. Let’s keep praying for parents who are deciding, and for the hiring process for a new teacher in gr 7/8. Who will God bring our way?
in Christian education, Keith Cameron, Principal and Chief Operating Officer
Farewell: Haley Nordquist (gr 7) will be finishing her stay with the Meesters, and is returning home to Kitchener this Friday. You may have met Haley’s parents, Rebecca and Samson, when they joined us for Family Fun Nights. ICS filled a unique need here, and we pray for God’s blessings on the Nordquist home.
Praying for our parents: Please join us as we pray for Jeff & Tammie Vannoord as well as Dustin & Jacklyn Versnick.
Praying for our staff: Please keep the Buma extended family in your prayers as they remember the life and mourn the passing of Ms Buma’s mother, Mrs Tine Buma.

REMINDERS:
Tuition Reduction Incentive Plan (T.R.I.P):  Next TRIP order will be sent out on April 6th, due by the 14th with pick up on the 21st. *TRIP is now accepting e-transfer as another form of payment. If you would like to pay by e-transfer, please send it to trip@immanuelchristianschool.net. Please make a note on your order form or online, so we know to look for your payment. Thanks!
Cheese orders: Due today with delivery April 6th.
*Unfortunately, since the cost of gouda had a sharp increase, we needed to adjust our prices. Please note that the current price list reflects the cost increase from our supplier.
Meat & Baked Goods: The Meat and baked goods sale raised $400.96 from the Easter sale. Thanks for your support!

*Registration by 4 pm today! We are asking all families to confirm their places at ICS by completing the enrolment confirmation form at: https://goo.gl/lqRlq0 (also emailed to you, and on our Facebook site). A postdated nonrefundable cheque of $1000 will be required to confirm enrolment. Cheques should be dated 1 Sep 2016. Please don’t miss out: failure to register for 2016/17 by March 30th will result in a $200 late registration fee.

Still needing some GIFTS hours? Well, the Meat & Baked Good Fundraiser wants YOU!!!
Approx 6 hrs of volunteer hours are earned with every sale...multiply that by 4 sales a year and it would be about 24 hrs per school year! As a committee we gather info from varies companies about their products and any price changes, assemble the order form for the Journal, tally orders and fax the companies then when day of pick up comes we sort the products into separate orders for customers to pick up. We would love to see your new face helping on the committee! Come and join us!  Please contact the office if you are interested.

COO Annual Assessment: Keith and our Board are seeking your input into his annual assessment. Aiming for excellence in education involves our school leader as well as our teachers and students - please use the link provided to fill in the survey by April 8! Go to: https://goo.gl/jybzTM. Claim a half hour GIFTS credit for helping!

Board report: The last ICS Board Meeting was held on Wednesday March 9, 2016. As we are entering the third term of the school year the Board's focus was around the upcoming Membership Meeting in May. The budget for the upcoming school year was approved by the Board and committees were encouraged  to start planning for the 2016/17 school year. Board has been continuously updating school policies this year and committees are working hard to implement the Board's Vision.

Outdoor Work Day - Sat Apr 23. Please mark your calendars! We hope to replace the swingset containment border, clean eaves, renew basketball nets, paint lines and even get some trees installed. We’re looking into installation for larger (45mm to 65mm diameter) trees to provide immediate shade. Costs for installation for three trees (locust or linden) seem to be around $400+ per tree through the major nurseries. Should you have any other contacts for quality, local trees of similar variety, please let Mr Cameron know!

L.A.  In our next unit we will study the media in a critical and coherent way. The Ontario Alliance of Christian Schools has published a unit of study for grade 7 and 8 students entitled In Focus: A Study of Television and Magazines. This study is designed to help students realize that each medium of communication shapes and constructs reality. This unit is concerned with helping students develop an informed and critical understanding of the nature of  mass media, the techniques used, and the impact of these techniques. This focus fits with our school's purpose of helping our students develop a discerning Christian mind and lifestyle. We trust that you will support us in this effort.  If you have any questions or concerns about the activities that your son/daughter will participate in, do not hesitate to give me a call.
