Mission:  The mission of Immanuel Christian School is to prepare students to meet the challenge of the world and culture they live in as young and growing Christians.  Thus, students are taught the skill of discernment in the light of God’s Word, the practice of stewardship for creation, the required commitment to a life of Christian service, and the beauty of witness through modeling God’s love in a broken world.

From the Principals’ Desk:

The second candle on our school advent wreath is burning, we’ll only light one more before the school closes for the Christmas holiday. Time has gone fast!

This coming final week before vacations is a special one. We look forward to presenting our “Joy Notes of Christmas” on Tuesday (matinee) and Wednesday (evening). Breaking from a number of years of Christmas dramas, we’re focusing on our musical talents this year. Each class presents a piece they have learned in music class. The band and a special choir will showcase their abilities. Additionally, our students have the opportunity for individual or small-group recitals, highlighting their significant extra-curricular music lessons. Next Thursday is the last day before vacation, and we will once again be carolling in our community, some to Heritage Place, some to Chateau Gardens, some downtown. If you are available, all parents (and their voices!) are invited to join us from 1:30 - 3. Please let your child’s homeroom teacher know if you can attend (or send in the form at the end of the Journal).

As we do all this, we trust that in the music of our voices and instruments, we give glory to our God and Creator as we remember Christ’s birth with joy.

Specifically, they need canned fruits, vegetables, canned and dried pasta, and packaged single serving meals. We have only a very limited amount of donations so far. As a community, we are greatly blessed and having our children directly involved in sharing those blessings teaches some very important lessons. We would like to challenge every child to bring in an item or items to share. Together, we can do it!

Promotions would like to thank everyone who assisted in this years float. To all those who loaned us costumes, it was greatly appreciated and your costumes may now be picked up from the school's office. To the students who came out to brave colder temperatures, we would like to thank you as well.  We would also like to extend our thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Smit for letting us prepare the float at their place and allowing us to take shelter in their barn after the parade.  We are grateful to you all.

This was a good result from only a few riders and donors - well done, and many thanks! Unless the event returns to Aylmer, we may discontinue participation. Science: Students presented their “slip stop” recommendations to one of our custodians, Mrs Helen Friesen on Monday. Based on the student recommendations, she chose to use the Pro 2000 ice melter option. Student slipperiness and melting tests revealed that removing ice quickly was the best way to get good traction. Salt alone was just as good as an ice melter mix, but more harmful to grass. This project-based unit was designed to allow students to learn about God’s design for materials, and our call a stewards, using a real-life problem. We have a test on Wednesday to confirm our knowledge of the science terms, but we’ve learned a lot so far!
