Mission: The mission of Immanuel Christian School is to prepare students to meet the challenge of the world and culture they live in as young and growing Christians. Thus, students are taught the skill of discernment in the light of God’s Word, the practice of stewardship for creation, the required commitment to a life of Christian service, and the beauty of witness through modeling God’s love in a broken world.

From the Principal’s Desk:
Welcome back from the Thanksgiving break! We have some important and exciting events coming up this month, let me draw your attention to a few of them:
- we start our Canadian Stories integrated study this Friday! Over the last few years, integrated studies have become part of the unique learning fabric here at ICS. In our student school families, we will spend three Friday afternoons rotating to three different lessons. Our aims for these multi-age studies are to learn age-appropriate curriculum content (including an appreciation of how God’s story intersects with that of our nation’s), and also (even more so) to build character (care for others, leadership, a joy of learning, and initiative). Come out to the Gallery Walk on Friday, November 13.
- parent teacher interviews are next week! Please book early for best choice. These form an early check-in regarding your child’s progress, and traditionally we schedule in all parents for the Fall session. Depending on your desires, and your child’s maturity, you may consider involving your child in the conferences. There is a reflection form for that purpose attached.
- our first Family Fun night will be on Oct 23. This is a great community-building event, with a low-cost meal out. We are once again connecting established families with newer families in our Parent Partnership program - this venue is the ideal social connection for “paired” families to meet together! Parent partnership link-up letters will be coming home this week to those involved.
- Lastly, welcome to Haley Nordquist daughter of Sampson & Rebecca, joining us in gr 7! The Nordquists live in Waterloo, but Haley will be staying with Jenn and Ryan Meesters in our local area from Sundays to Thursdays. Also, welcome to our homeschool partner program for Joshua (gr3) and Tyler (SK) Meesters! As part of our homeschool extracurricular program, Joshua and Tyler are eligible to participate in our MAP testing (the main reason for their parents’ interest) as well as chapels, library, field trips, etc.

Ash Borer, oh, no - our playground trees are dying! We have had our playground shade trees assessed, and the ash borer is killing off the limbs, requiring their removal this Fall. Commercial felling will cost around $1000, but our Maint Ctte is considering doing the job in-house. If you might be interested in purchasing ash firewood to defray the costs, please contact the office. As well, we are seeking ideas for replacement trees which will be native to this area, will provide shade, not drop fruit and have smaller leaves which will not cover the play area in the Fall. Have ideas - please contact the Principal!
Library: Have you read an Eric Walters book yet? Be sure to fill in a stone, and add to our wall.

This Friday, Oct. 16, students will bring home a Project Outline in which they will be required to collect, categorize and classify some leaf samples. Leaves are unique in terms of size, shape and colouring. They illustrate the creativity and dependability of God. Their pattern is unmistakable, pointing to God’s design for life. The LDCSS option is also supported by our bus routes, and each school provides a reduction if siblings are enrolled in both schools (for example, we do not charge for busing to LDCSS). As parents, take the time to understand your options and prayerfully make your choices. We will publish LDCSS information, and you will easily find information for East Elgin Secondary (regular program and ASPIRE), Providence Reformed Collegiate, or other schools of interest (contact the office if you need help, please).
Grade 8 day at LDCSS: Wednesday, November 8 - Current Grade 8 students are invited to be a student at LDCSS for the day.
