From the Principal’s Desk:
As an independent Christian school, relying on private tuition and donations, it is easy to get focused inwards, on our budget and what we need. It is important to realize that we are blessed in so many ways. As Matthew recounts the parable of the talents in chapter 25, I’m convinced that we’re the school with two or five talents, with a call to invest, grow and steward what we have. At Christmas, we need to reach out to our community with the light of the gospel in practical ways. The Corner Cupboard meets a local need, and we support both a food drive at ICS as well as host the packing of Christmas Care parcels in our gym on Dec 23rd.

“The Food Under the Tree” drive. We will be collecting non-perishable food under the decorated Christmas tree located in the front entrance. These items will be picked up by the Corner Cupboard and distributed to needy families at Christmas time. Please help us by picking up a few extra items with your weekly groceries and send them to school with your child(ren). We’ve themed our donations again this year:
- Dec 8: Babyfood Thursday
- Dec 12: Toothbrushes and Paste Tuesday
- Dec 14: Cereal Thursday
Hats/Mittens/Socks: We will try to bless the less fortunate in our community by collecting new hats, mittens, or socks to put under the tree. The Optimist Club works together with the Corner Cupboard. They appreciate our schools involvement in these projects. Thank you!

in Christian education, Keith Cameron, Principal and Chief Operating Officer
Praying for our parents: Please join us as we pray for Hank & Marg Klassen as well as John & Anna Krahn.
Congratulations: To Dan and Janina Dykxhoorn as well as Colton, Jaidyn & Amelia who were blessed with the birth of a son, William Charles (aka Liam) November 30th. He was 7 lbs & 12 oz. We give thanks to God that everything went well.
Praying for our staff: Please pray for our Kindergarten teacher Mrs. Sarah Penner

Thank You, Text, Message, ...A Big Thank you! - To the ladies from the Heritage Place. We are so grateful and we thank you for the beautiful handmade hats, mitts, scarves and socks to put under our tree for the Optimist club. They have also donated $350 from their craft circle to ICS!

Student Vacation Policy: We acknowledge that there are times when parents make the decision to withdraw students for a period of time for vacations. To prevent possible disruption to the class and to help ensure the student’s academic progress, please approach the teacher(s) well in advance of the proposed vacation and request additional assignments and make-up work for the absent time.  This request, where possible, will be obliged by the staff members. Please view the policy online

The ICS Board invites the Membership to recommend names for re for the 2017 Board.  Interested individuals and/or recommendations should be forwarded to h.friesen@immanuelchristianschool.net on or before Fri Jan 6 2017.  A complete list of requirements for potential applicants can be found on the ICS website under Policy 1.09 Recruitment Requirements for Prospective Board Members.  The School Board term is 3 years in length, meetings are held monthly, and it is a rewarding experience personally and directly within ICS.

The Annual Fall Membership Meeting was held on Wed. Nov 30th, 2016. It was good to meet together, hear about the work of the Christian School Foundation and how that creates opportunities for ICS. We also reflected on the ongoing work in education, maintenance, promotions, fundraising, transport, membership and finance. The hot dips (and recipes!) from the Ladies Auxiliary added to the social venue - thank-you!

What does it mean to be a Member of Immanuel Christian School?  It means you have special privileges, you oversee and hold the school board accountable, you maintain the heritage and non-profit status of ICS, and you get your foot further in the door of the community of ICS.  Membership applications are available now from the school office, and annual renewal ($25) can be sent to the office or e-transferred to t.janssen@immanuelchristianschool.net

  • Have you checked out www.arbookfind.com to see if your non-ICS book has a quiz available?
