From the Principal’s Desk:
Welcome back from the Easter break! Thank-you for coming out and supporting your children / grandchildren at our Celebration of Learning and drama last Wednesday night! It was great to feel the energy and buzz of the building as children showed off their work and talents. From my perspective, the evening was a great opportunity to allow the classroom work normally done under a teacher to be seen by a much wider audience. It was also a great chance for us all to join together as a school as we put on the drama. We’d love to hear from you on this too. Please do not hesitate to chat with me, drop me an email, or speak with any of our teachers - we’re excited by Christian education here at Immanuel and we want to make that excitement part of our social conversations!
In Christian education, Keith Cameron, Principal and Chief Operating Officer

Elgin Community Cares presents… Promoting Resilience in Young Children: When things get tough, some people move forward and others get stuck in a rut. People who steer through difficult times are more resilient. They “bounce back” from stressful experiences. Reseach shows that people with resilience are more successful in school and jobs. Resilience can be learned! And young children develop resilience by watching adults model resilient thinking and coping strategies. You are invited to a presentation about helping your child steer through life’s inevitable bumps in the road. Tuesday April 25th 6:30-8:30pm at Mitchell Hepburn Public School. No cost. Free childcare available as well as light refreshments. Registration at elgincommunitycares@gmail.com or 519-633-6335.

  • “Thumb-length” is the guide for shorts, straps should be three fingers wide
  • Halter tops, muscle shirts, bare feet, bare midriffs, low necklines are not permitted

What kind of foot might be good for what kind of bird, for the swimmer and the percher, the climber and the snatcher, the wader and the racer? A bird’s bill gives us clues about what it eats, the heron with its spear beak, the spoonbill with its scoop beak, the hummingbird with its straw beak, the robin with its tweezer beak, and the cardinal with its nutcracker beak. Tools mimic beaks! In class, we classified birds into five groups: ground birds, perching birds, birds of prey, marsh and shorebirds, and water birds all perfectly suited for the habitats in which they live! Today we continued our research activity in the Lab. *Parents, please ensure that your child is following the criteria and information included in his/her Project envelope. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. We are enjoying working on our projects and sharing a little bit about the progress we are making with each other.
