From the Principal’s Desk:
So, what happens after school every Monday? Well, we join as a staff team for devotions, prayer and a meeting. I’m very excited after this last Monday’s meeting! We did a “gallery walk” such as your students might do, spending time in each other’s classrooms and seeing each other’s plans for the Celebration of Learning next week. Wow, your teachers have some creative, well thought-out plans to help your children show off some of the great work they’ve been doing in class! You will be proud of both your children and their teachers!
So, how will a Celebration of Learning work? Plan on coming to ICS from 5:45-6:30 next Wednesday. Invite grandparents, extended family and interested friends. Your child(ren) will stay with you and will proudly explain his or her presentation work. You may have opportunity to see some other children’s work too, or chat with the teacher. But, if you have more than one child, you’ll also need to keep moving! When the double bell rings, it will be time to get a seat in the gym for the drama, while your child will go to her or his class to prepare. On with the show!
In Christian education, Keith Cameron, Principal and Chief Operating Officer
PS - don’t forget the early dismissal this Friday as we take advantage of the high school PA day to allow teachers to focus on our philosophy and practice with handwriting, both printing and cursive. Children will be home about 1.5 hours earlier.

Praying for our parents: Please join us as we pray for Jason & Carrie Vis and Jim and Jill Vording.
Praying for our staff: Please pray for our Health and PE teacher Mr. TenBruggencate.

REMINDERS:
Tuition Reduction Incentive Plan (T.R.I.P):  April order is attached.  Due on Tues April 11th with pickup April 20th.
New stores have been added to our order form including Lowe’s (2%) and The Shoe Company (7%).
Hot Lunches: The ladies auxiliary would like to simplify the ordering of hot lunches for both parents and teachers (and ourselves!) There is an Google form to complete at: goo.gl/eXxFOZ  (also on Facebook) for the hot lunches for the remainder of this school year.  Please fill out one for each of your children and send the total amount of money owed to the office with the payment slip by April 14th. This is an experiment to see if we would like to continue this process next year. Thanks to those of you who have already completed it!
Meat & Baked Goods: Thank you to all of those who participated in ordering from our newest company fundraiser MacMillan’s. We were able to make a profit of $733 going directly back to the school! (with very little manpower required). We invite you to provide your feedback to the office on the products you received to help decide if we will use them again next year. The next order form with our regular suppliers will be sent out in May. Thanks for your support!
Pop Can Recycling:  Just a reminder we only collect aluminum cans, not tuna or other cans.
Last call for your feedback! Our Board Executive invites you to reflect on Keith as our school leader. Responses are requested by 7 April, please! Click on: https://goo.gl/9pJMuC (see FB for the link too). Thanks!

Raise to Praise Campaign UPDATE:  It has been 3 weeks since the launch of our Raise to Praise Campaign and as a school we are so blessed to have such a supportive and caring community.  This has been received with an outpouring of support with a total of $40,000 towards our $100,000 goal already! We completed our Call Campaign on Thursday, March 30th giving us an opportunity to connect with you and the second round of calls will be completed over the next week. If you have not received the Campaign package or a call and would like to talk to the team, please feel free to contact Jim Vording – 519-644-0989 or Janine Shelton – 519-619-0738.  For those not familiar with the process, the calling committee gave a guideline amount of $395 or $35 monthly which seemed very helpful to many.  Some people wondered that if they are not giving $1000, for example, it's not worth contributing.  Whatever your contribution, you helped in planting seeds of support and for that we are grateful! Please keep ICS and our R2P Campaign in your prayers.  Thanks for your support!
Unplug & Play Week - April 23rd-29th. Active Play, in both outdoor and indoor settings, is an important factor for the health and well-being of children and youth. How do you get kids away from screens? ParticipACTION's Unplug and Play has tips, fact sheets, and an outdoor play calendar. Check out the East Elgin Area Event Calendar attached at the end of the Journal. Ticket orders are due Tuesday, April 18th on a first come, first served basis and can be handed in at the office. Immanuel Promotions Committee is offering Dodgeball Mania on the 27th.  For students that wish to track their physical activity and screen time, log sheets are available in the office. Looks like a fantastic week!

2017 ANNUAL ICS GOLF TOURNAMENT -  MARK YOUR CALENDARS for the upcoming Annual ICS Golf Tournament being held on Saturday, May 20th, 2017 at Pine Knot Golf and Country Club. There will be a Shotgun Start at 1:00 p.m.  The price per golfer will be $150.00 – which includes Lunch, Green Fees, Power Cart and a Steak Dinner.  Your Entry Fee will also include all contests, including: Putting Contest, Skins, Closest to the Pin – Mens and Ladies, Longest Drive – Men's and Ladies, Closest to the Line, Longest Putt and Mystery Balls. There is also a door prize for all golfers !!!!
Entry forms will be available in the near future. Questions – call Jeff and Tammie Vannoord at 519-773-5593.  Last year, our tournament was full with 144 Golfers so you will want to register early if you would like to participate in this wonderful event!

Survey: The Transportation and Finance committees in preparation for next year's budget process are looking into ways to cut costs to save the school money and in turn lower our parents’ tuition costs.  One of the avenues we are looking at is offering a tuition reduction to families who do not require the use of our transportation services.  If there are enough families who commit to not requiring the services of transportation and we are able to lower our costs we will pass on to the families these savings. We anticipate the possible savings depending on the amount of families who commit could be up to $1,000.00 per family.  For the families who commit and the rest of our families who cannot give up this service school there is the possibility of cost savings for a bus replacement which will be required in the coming year. All responses to be returned to the office by Thurs April 13th. Questions? Please contact Dean Mantel Transportation Chair at 519-282-3115

I will commit to not requiring transportation services next year   ______________________________
