From the Principal’s Desk:
I think it is wonderful how Grandparents’ and Senior Friends Day intersects with our theme this year! Today is an exciting day of generational connections that are much rarer in a more mobile society, where “family” is increasingly restricted to a household. That doesn’t seem to be God’s view, where He calls a whole people and nation to follow in the Old Testament. Jesus extends that invitation to all people who will hear His call, to be joined into His family: “I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd” (John 10:16).  ICS is a generational “flock”, united by a passion for Christian education for our children, where we speak of “things our ancestors have told us. We will not hide them from their descendants, we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord” (Psalm 78:3,4).

Yours in Christian education, Keith Cameron, Principal and Chief Operating Officer
Each week, during staff devotions we join in prayer for our parents and staff members. We invite you to do so as well.
Praying for our parents: Keith & Amanda Cameron and Henry & Jacqueline Dalm.
Praying for our staff: Please pray for our Grade 5/6 teacher, Ms. Farrow Jones.

REMINDERS:
Chocolate Bars: If you have not sold your box or paid the activity fee already, please do so as soon as possible. Deadline was Sept 29th. First class to sell all of their boxes or get all of their student fees in gets a tasty treat. Gr 7&8 are now tied with Gr 5&6. Who will be the winning class?
*A big thank you to all of those students/families who have sold more than 1 box each! There are still some boxes left. Prizes will be given out to students who have sold more than 1 box and are willing to take additional home. Homeroom teachers will be able to request prizes for their students from the office.
Playground: The scooter season has ended on Friday, Sept 29th. We ask that anything with wheels not be brought to school for the fall season. It’s a balance of having fun, and also keeping things manageable in the playground!
T.R.I.P: Order form is attached. Due on Oct 12th with pickup on Oct 19th.
Picture Day: Will take place on October 18th (SK-8) and Oct 19th (JK) LifeTouch order forms will be sent home this week. Please return the envelopes to your child’s homeroom teacher.

Care 2 Cycle: We had a great day on Saturday! With our partner organization Grace Community Church, we had a total of 37 riders come out to support Christian service locally and abroad. After expenses, ICS was able to raise a total of $2900, while Grace raised $1300! This family bicycling fundraiser supports our student fund which includes our Sponsor child, field trips and the library. Thanks to our staff, volunteers, cyclists and donors for committing their time and money towards a good cause. Special mention to Pastor Louis & Penny Bosma for your enthusiastic and tireless support of our ride!
