Mission:  The mission of Immanuel Christian School is to prepare students to meet the challenge of the world and culture they live in as young and growing Christians.  Thus, students are taught the skill of discernment in the light of God’s Word, the practice of stewardship for creation, the required commitment to a life of Christian service, and the beauty of witness through modeling God’s love in a broken world.

This Family Day weekend, my family travelled to Ottawa. We have friends and family there, and it was also the final (very cold) weekend of Winterlude. Still, there were line ups at the Beavertail stands - flat, deep-fried sweet pastries which for many have become a symbol of Winterlude and skating on the canal. Why the line-ups? Well, as we discovered, they were good, and people were willing to wait, anticipating something delicious at the end!

In a similar way, the church season of Lent, which started today, marks the beginning of the 40 day wait for Easter. Pastor Randy Fehr, from Aylmer Grace Community Church, joined our chapel this morning. I look forward to other area pastors joining us in the weeks ahead. As a Christian school, we seek to create a culture of anticipation for the greatest Christian celebration - Easter, Jesus’ death for us, and his resurrection to eternal life. Join us at Lent chapels, Wednesdays at 8:55, and in your daily activities, look forward to Easter with your children (or grandchildren)!

This week, students received 2 envelopes of questions - one for Lightning Round and one for Battle Round. FROM THE CLASSROOMS:

Staffing News. Mr TenBruggencate will be coming off his disability leave and resuming more teaching duties as of Mon Feb 23. Mr T will pick up responsibility for grades 7/8 Language Arts from Mr Cameron, and History / Geography from Ms Heo. Mr Cameron will still teach Science and Tech, and will be able to increase his administrative time. Ms Heo will continue to share her significant gifts of music with grades 3-8 on Mon and Tue. We ask for your prayers and encouragement for our teachers: for Mr T as he is keen to resume his former duties, while he still deals with the chronic pain from being struck while cycling; and, Ms Heo as she focuses on music while this staffing change reduces her teaching time.
