From the Principal’s Desk:

2015-16-bannerLarge.jpgSchool is a great place to tell stories, especially stories of what God has done, and is doing, at Immanuel!

We have had a school full of rocks this year, in our front entrance, in our classrooms. We were reminded of the story in Joshua chapter 4 where a leader from each tribe stood up rocks taken from the middle of the Jordan River. Why? So that when the children asked, their parents, grandparents and teachers could tell them the story of what God had done. And what about us now? Well, let me leave 3 challenges with you, whether you are a parent, grandparent or teacher, a Kindergarten or grade 8 student:

1. Make sure you have a story to tell! Have you made room in your heart for God’s work?
2. Plan and work to tell the story! Story-telling does not happen by itself. Choose one time this past year when you know God was working.
3. Tell the story! Write it down, draw a picture. Use the yearbook as a reminder to re-tell the story of God at work in you during this past year.

Grade 8 graduates, you are maturing into young men and women of God! Those Graduate Expectations we have for you are a high calling - discerning believer, lifelong learner, collaborative contributor... Many teachers will have had an impact on your lives over your time at ICS, and our prayers go with you as you move on to another stage in your education. It will not be easy to live for Christ, but you are called to! Feel free to come back, and bless us with stories of what you have been doing! Seek Him personally in all you do.

in Christian education, Keith Cameron, Principal and Chief Operating Officer
Praying for our parents: Please join us as we pray for Abe & Tricia Giesbrecht and George & Susie Guenther,
Praying for our staff: Please pray for our Grade 2/3 teacher Ms. Amanda Loewen.
Farewells to our staff: At Graduation, we are bidding farewell to three staff this year. Mrs Tilda VanderHoek is transitioning after 29 years of teaching. We will be presenting a scrapbook with selected photos and best wishes - it will be available for signing after Graduation. We will also bid farewell to Mr Case Vannoord, retiring after 8 years of driving bus, and Mrs Emily Schuurman, returning to the farm after 2 years of French instruction. We will have memory frames for both, available for signatures after Graduation.

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the ICS community for giving me the privilege of being a participant in the teaching of your children. Thank you for your prayers, words of wisdom, support, encouragement, and compassion.  It has been a blessed experience serving at this Christ-centred school.        T. VanderHoek
