From the GST Auction Committee:
Our GST Auction was a huge success and raised an AMAZING sum of $67,132.08!  We would like to express our appreciation to Jesse Vannoord and the professional auctioneering services he provides for our auction at no charge. We also would like to thank Larry and Irene Buis and our entertaining spotters, Jason Vis and Dan Dykxhoorn! A HUGE THANK YOU to Sjon Hulst, our Computer Tech for working tirelessly to develop a new unique application for use at our auction!!! It worked splendidly, resulting in a quick and easy checkout for our buyers! A special thank you to Family Flowers, who aided the Auction Committee with the use of plants and display supplies. Thank you to our kitchen volunteers – Grace Vording, Kaylynn Mantel, Kennedy Vandendool, Nichola DeDreu and Cassie Vannoord, who diligently plated lasagne dinners, sold beverages and snacks and brought the kitchen back to its normal state at the end of the night. A special thanks to Chantelle Bakker for creating the design for our posters and Auction Booklet. A big shout out to Shane Harkness of Harkness Printing in Belmont for printing our auction booklets for us! And, last but not least, a HUGE THANK YOU to our generous donors and buyers. Whether your donation or purchase was large or small….it all made a difference. God has indeed blessed us with a community who supports quality Christian education!
Serving you on the auction committee, Chris Bakker, Tina Banman, Nathan Bokma, Tricia Giesbrecht, Tracy Mantel, Carrie Rempel, Nathan Saarloos, Tammie Vannoord and Jill Vording
Each week, during staff devotions we join in prayer for our parents and staff members. We invite you to do so as well.
Praying for our parents: Please pray for Randy & Bettina Poortinga as well as Fred & Carrie Rempel.
Praying for our staff: Please pray for our Health & PE teacher Mr. Evert TenBruggencate.
Praying for our volunteers: Let us also remember in prayer our longtime faithful Journal assembler, Mrs. Trudy Wiebenga. Trudy has not been feeling well and has also been experiencing some pain and difficulty while swallowing food. After meeting with the doctors it has been determined that the cause of the discomfort is that there is a mass on or near the esophagus. Further tests are needed to see what the course of action will be. She would greatly appreciate “praying they will know more soon and that this will be a quick and simple procedure with no lasting effects.”
Condolences: To Lydia Loewen on the passing of her father Tony Loewen. Lydia was able to travel back to Belize to be with her mother & family for the funeral.
In order to best serve all students and parents, we need to hear from our current parents now. We are asking you to confirm your registration for 2018/2019 using the Sycamore button on our homepage by Wednesday 14 Feb. You’ll need your family login information.Tracey will be able to talk you through any questions / login details / challenges you may encounter. Thank-you for your help in this.

Congratulations to Claire Vording who placed first in the 12 year old girls division. She now advances to the next level, in Tillsonburg!

Jump into Kindergarten! Children entering JK & SK are invited to experience the Kindergarten classroom at ICS. Children can enjoy the morning leaning letters, shapes, and numbers in a Christian setting. New families to ICS are welcome to attend 2 mornings and existing families may attend 1 morning. The program runs Feb 8, 27th & March 1st from 8:30-11:30am. Please share with anyone who might be interested. Call to reserve a spot!

WANTED! We will be looking for an additional TRIP coordinator for the 2018-19 school year. We have one interested parent, is someone willing to come on board and make a team? Coordinators are in charge of placing orders, making bank deposits, distributing gift card orders and ensuring stock is available. This is a lot of work, so this is a “paid volunteer” spot.  Interested? Send an application (email or letter) to Fundraising Committee via the office please!

WANTED! Does our Breakfast Program sound like a great idea to you? Want it to continue? We need an additional helper to ensure the future sustainability of this program. The job would require snack planning, shopping weekly and monthly tracking of finances. Our student breakfast team does the majority of daily prep and clean up! Battle of the Books: At this point, readers should be finished or almost finished reading the 10 titles for their division. Keep an eye out for any of our “missing” books! Next week we will start practices - Mondays and Thursdays at snack recess and lunch time.  The schedule switches between Junior and Senior groups to try to also accommodate Chess and Basketball practices. Students must attend one practice each week, preferably 2! If this is going to be a problem, be sure to talk to Mrs Robinson. As part of practice, students will receive a set of questions in an envelope. These questions follow the format of questions on the competition day, so it very helpful work through them and become very familiar with them. Battle Day is Tues., Mar 27 at LDCSS. We will need a parent be the adult in charge for one team. You would be welcome to join for any practice days, but the main focus would be on Battle Day. Announcing a Retirement: This week, Mr. Evert TenBruggencate let us know that he will be retiring from his position of P.E. / Health teacher at the end of this contract year. He writes that, “It has been a blessing and a huge pleasure to be employed by and affiliated with the Immanuel Christian School Community for the past 34 years. It is with some sadness, but with many good memories that I close this chapter in my life. I pray that God will continue to bless you as you endeavour to seek His will in educating children in the way they should go.” We as a community have been hugely blessed by Evert’s service over the years, and we've walked many joyful and tough roads during those years, declaring God's faithfulness throughout. May he continue to know God's blessing as he open a new chapter of life! We'll farewell Evert as a school community at Graduation.
