Mission : The mission of Immanuel Christian School is to prepare students to meet the challenge of the world and culture they live in as young and growing Christians. Thus, students are taught the skill of discernment in the light of God’s Word, the practice of stewardship for creation, the required commitment to a life of Christian service, and the beauty of witness through modeling God’s love in a broken world.

From the
Principal's Desk::
I
want to write a bit about community this week. Building on our annual
theme of "Called to Love One Another," community-building will be our
school theme for term 2. Our community is (1) within the school's walls
(my prime responsibility), (2) between our parents and within our school society,
(3) within our wider Christian schooling organizations (the Ontario
Alliance of Christian Schools and Christian Schools International), (4) with
other neighbouring Christian schools, and (5) outwards in our society, where
our students are called to meet the challenges of our world and culture.
Lots of links to think about!
In
our society, we would see last week's membership meeting as an expression of
confidence in the direction of Immanuel. But, with only about 40 members
(including the board and the staff) we did feel that there
is definite room for growth in terms of attendance! Even if there is
nothing controversial on the agenda, be an active participant in our
school. As Jane noted, we need to keep focussed on who we are as a
Christian school, on our responsibilities as parents in the education of
our children. And, we need to do that together!
In
our wider Christian schooling organizations, we are sending board
representatives to the OACS annual general meeting this Saturday. Much of
our best policy guidance, curriculum and teacher development comes from the
OACS, and we need to actively support that work.
Last
Saturday's informal volleyball tournament with Faith
Christian Academy
and St Thomas Christian School
was an excellent way of building community between similar-minded schools.
It was a great atmosphere, and the team play in a competitive environment
helped hone all our players!
Finally,
we are hosting the Sweets, Treats and Treasures Sale (formerly Ladies' Auxiliary
Christmas Craft Sale) this Saturday. We seek to bring in profits to
the Ladies' Auxiliary, but it is also an opportunity for our wider
community to be in our school, and they should be able to notice that we're a
Christian school! Come on out!
in
Christ,
//Keith
Cameron//

continued healing for Mr. TenBruggencate.
PA Day and Report cards: following tomorrow's PA day
for report card writing, you may expect your child's report card to be sent
home on Wed Nov 21. Yes, we know this is
a Thursday PA day, and the high school is off on Friday! Our aim at the beginning of the year was to
ensure a fair distribution of PA days for JK (40%) and for SK (60%), and this
explains this Thursday’s PA day.
Reminders: T.R.I.P. orders for November are due by 9:00 a.m.
tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 15 with pick up on Thursday, Nov. 22.
Chocolate Letters: The pick up day is this Friday, Nov. 16th
from 1:30 – 3:30. If you would

please contact the school office.
Chocolate Bars Sales:
We would like to thank the students and parents for all their efforts in
making our chocolate bar sales a profitable one. We realized a profit $2525 which is $1000
