Mission:  The mission of Immanuel Christian School is to prepare students to meet the challenge of the world and culture they live in as young and growing Christians.  Thus, students are taught the skill of discernment in the light of God’s Word, the practice of stewardship for creation, the required commitment to a life of Christian service, and the beauty of witness through modeling God’s love in a broken world.

From the Principal's Desk::

Along with this Journal, parents will find copies of their child's / children's report card.  Our teachers take great care in assessment and evaluation.  Our calling as teachers is a high one, and we must be careful with the influence we have.  James writes that, "we who teach will be judged more strictly" (3:1).  At the same time, we are called to assess and reflect where our students are at, academically, physically and spiritually.  Wisdom is both knowing and doing the right thing, and we are considering how we can use our Graduate Expectations in guiding our character assessment.  We know that, "these commands are a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the corrections of discipline are the way to life" (Proverbs 6:23). Teachers have put much effort into their comments, celebrating successes and giving guidance in areas for development.  Please discuss your child's report with him / her, and I would recommend celebrating successes, as well as discussing areas for further growth.  Should you have any questions about your child's report, please contact their teacher.

in Christ,
//Keith Cameron//

Church Ambassadors!  Promotions Committee have been working on coordinating our new Church Ambassadors.  Ambassadors are volunteers from our school membership who are asked to be points of contact for their own congregations.  Initially, Ambassadors are asked to confirm that their churches have ICS advertising materials available (or whychristianschools.ca materials if more appropriate).  They are also asked to identify if and when opportunities exist for a speaker, or a student presentation on Christian education.  Serving as our Church Ambassadors are:

Grace Community Church- Jim and Helen Friesen

Mapleton Church of Christ Disciples - Larry and Irene Buis

Call for Prayer:  The ICS Promotions Committee feels strongly that prayer, as a community, should be an essential part of our promotions activities.  We want to be faithful in honouring our Heavenly Father, and to see our school grow and thrive for years to come.   We understand that the perfect marketing scheme to attract new families into the school is not the solution.   More than just numbers, we also ask that God would help us as supporters, staff, parents and students to grow spiritually.  Out of that, we ask that God brings more students to be taught to honour Him.  We need Jesus to work in people’s hearts.  As we prepare for our Christmas parades, we would ask our members and parents to spend time in family or private prayer in our own homes on the morning of November 22, before the Aylmer parade.  We also ask our supporting local churches to uphold us in prayer.  We enclose a written prayer as a guide:

Please open people’s hearts to see that you, the Source of all love, truth and grace, are a priority in education.  Help us to remember and to show that teaching our children that you love them and call them to follow you, is priority one, “at home... and along the road” (Deut 6:7).  Lord, thank you that you have promised that if we seek your kingdom first, all else will fall into place. Please open our community’s hearts and minds to your perfect grace and teachings.  And help us to model this at home, as well as in our school.
Dear Jesus, we would also like to pray for our politicians and our public and Catholic local school boards.  Dear Jesus, please work in our hearts, open the hearts of people in our community, the hearts of people in educational leadership and the hearts of people in governmental leadership.  Please use all our efforts, including the Christmas parade float, the Touch A Truck Event and various open houses in the new year, to be a witness to you.  Please use us for your glory.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Promotions Committee, Immanuel Christian School
